RUCKING 101

What is rucking?

Rucking is purposeful walking or hiking while carrying an external load in a backpack, rucksack, or weighted vest. The added load generally raises effort and changes gait, so the same route may feel harder than an unloaded walk.

What changes the difficulty?

Load is only one variable. Distance, pace, elevation, surface, footing, heat, daylight, and pack fit can change the demand. Progress one primary stressor at a time.

What rucking does not guarantee

Rucking is not a guaranteed fat-loss, posture-correction, injury-prevention, or muscle-building program. Calorie figures are estimates and depend on the person and conditions.
